seventy east fairmont vs. farmington the farmington farmers spurted late in the third period to break a 21 to 21 deadlock and then emerged victorious over a scrappy east high quintet by a 34 to 28 margin in a nip and tuck battle. east fairmont vs. victory victory unleashed a scoring attack in the last half to nose out the yellow jackets 42 to 26. the bees were off to a lead in the first period, but weakened and victory took the verdict. east fairmont vs. weston east high's basketeers, fighting gamely against terrific odds, dropped a 39 to 22 decision to weston's minute-men, sending the bees down one more notch in the big ten cellar. the lewis five losing all of their seven confer- ence encounters. east fairmont vs. morgantown the bees traveled to Morgantown seeking laurels on a foreign court. the proteges of ike lewis in a thrill-packed, spine-tingling struggle lost the game only after two extra periods, before the red and blue were able to gain their slim edge. in the second extra period, morgantown scored to win 31 to 29. east fairmont vs. west fairmont a sizzling second half comeback enabled the polar bears to topple the bees, 40 to 27, in a nip and tuck conflict. for three periods it was anybody's ball game with the bees setting a dizzy pace during the first half until late in the third period when they weakened and lost in the final stanza. rule netted 8 points. east fairmont vs. weston the east fairmont quints slipped a 42 to 33 defeat on the weston basket- eers to avenge a loss suffered earlier in the season to the minute men the victory snapped a losing streak of five consecutive games. rule again was high point man with a total of 21 points. east fairmont vs. fairview the fairview indians edged out a 33 to 32 decision over the yellow jackets before a capacity crowd. the bees staged a garrison finish, outplay- ing the indians during the last period, but their gallant efforts went for nought as the final gun sounded with the bees needing one more goal to cop the verdict. east fairmont vs. shinnston the yellow jackets were overwhelmed by the shinnston tigers 41 to 20. it was the tigers second victory of the season over the bees. east fairmont vs. elkins th east high dribbleds lost their second game with elkins when the tigers took the measure of the yellow jackets 37-24. east fairmont vs. morgantown the east fairmont yellow jackets finished their basketball season at home when they entertained morgantown. the struggle proved to be as exciting as the initial game during the season. the red and blue aggrega- tion upset the dope bucket by a score of 33 to 30.

basketball season in review east fairmont vs. alumni the east high cagers opened their basketball season under coach lewis, who piloted the yellow jackets for the first time. the bees showed lots of power in the tune-up by triumphing over a strong alumni quint. the score was 30 to 26. east fairmont vs. barrackville the east fairmont bees defeated the barrackville bisons on the basket- ball court 26 to 23 after the teams had played nip and tuck ball in the first half. the bees came from behind to nose out their rivals in the last period of the game. east fairmont vs. warren, ohio the east fairmont bees entertained a powerful buckeye aggregation and was defeated after putting up a stiff battle. the presidents went on a scoring spree in the third chapter to clinch the game. the score was 48-40. east fairmont vs. elkins the bees left home for their first trip of the season and dropped a close game to elkins by a 43 to 33 score. east fairmont vs. grafton the grafton high bearcats clawed ike lewisis east fairmont bees to the tune of 62 to 26. an over-flow crowd gathered in the palatine arena to wit- ness the renewal battle between these two big ten foes. east fairmont vs. shinnston the shinstnon high tigers defeated the yellow jackets, 37 to 24, in a thrill-packed scholastic big ten conference game before a capacity crowd at the shinnston court. east fairmont vs. mannington east fairmont high cagers nosed out the green and white wave of mann- ington by a 32 to 22 score. the blue and gold took the lead at the outset and were never headed, leading 22 to 7 at the half. east fairmont vs. west fairmont the east fairmont yellow jackets encountered the west fairmont polar bears in the opening number of the series to determin th 1938 city basket- ball championship. although the bees put up a gallant fight, the bears' basketball rr 'mine stepped out in high gear to win the first of the series by a 44 to 28 score. captain lynn proved the spearhead of the defense by net- ting ten points. east fairmont vs. grafton the bearcat's fast break and zone defense proved too much for the bees. the cats unleashed a terrific fiield goal barrage and administered a 75 to 28 drubbing to the east fairmont high cagers. east fairmont vs. st. peters the bees bounced back into the scramble for the 1938 city basketball championship when they toppled the st. peter's maroons, 21 to 13, before a large crowd. east fairmont vs. st. peters the bees scored their second consecutive victory over the st. peter's maroons, 56 to 40 in a fast-moving intra-city basketball encounter. the east quints in winning over their opponent once more are in the race for the city title. sixty-nin
