forty-:lx calendar monday-september 13-timid freshmen fearfully began their high school career, While sophomores, juniors, and seniors reluctantly returned to classes. thursday-september lfiicarolyn Wolfe and jack carpenter were elected as varsity cheerleaders. friday-september 17Mfarmington topped east side high in their first foot- ball game of the year by a score of 8-0. tuesday-september 21-old latin and new latins held a Weiner roast at morris park. the honorable hi-y members held their first annual meeting. Wednesday-september 22-group singing and nominations and tryouts for assistant cheerleaders compiled the activities of the first assembly. maronee harper was elected varsity cheerleader to replace carolyn wolfe who had resigned due to illness. thursday--september 23-elizabeth miller, esther ann morris, loris gaskins, and jimmie myers were chosen as assistant cheerleaders. friday-september 24-east fairmont conquered fairview indians, 21-0. tuesday-september 28-the faculty members roasted steak at rock lake. wednesday-september 29--girl reserves spent a jolly time at morris park on a Weiner roast. thursday-september 30-east high contending team lost to shinnston high team, 7-13. friday-october 1-the morgan school of dancing offered delightful enter- tainment in the afternoon. that evening the g. a. a. enjoyed weiners at morris park. tuesday-rctcber 5--the hi-y celebrated their formal initiation which was preceded by a bean feed in the cafeteria. wednesday-october Geethe editor-in-chief of the orion was elected and also the business manager, respectively, herman weeks and lois heflin. the french club enjoyed a party and informal initiati'-n. thursday-october 'Ye-reorganizing of the band was begun. friday-october 8-morgantown carried away the honors by defeating the yellow jackets, 14-0. monday-october 11-noon-hour dancing classes were organized to trans plant wall-flowers of the school. safety pins and pennies prevailed amcng candidates at the latin club's informal initiatirn. wednesday-october 13-the hi-y members held their formal initiation at the fairmont hotel. friday-october 15-the yellow jackets captured honors for the manning- ton football game, 6-0. monday-october 18-students of east high upheld safety rules by taking part in the city's safety day parade. thursday-october 21-thuse meeting was held in the autitorium. friday-october 22-amid snow, rain. and mud, grafton dominated over east high varsity by a score of 19-0. wednesday-october 27-the man of a thousand faces caused peals of laughter as Well as serious thought by his impersonations. thursday-october 28-sophomores enthusiastically attended their class party. friday-october 29-edespite recent floods the Weston-east high game was played to the tune of 21-0, weston's game. monday-november l- sun up, the faculty party, was a complete night of entertainment. 5

tuesday-november 2-new french club members were formally initiated. thursday-november 4-barrackville succumbed to east high, 14-0. friday-november 5-since some of the faculty attended the s. e. a., there was no school in session. tuesday-november 9-the latin club, with the senate presiding, held a meeting. thursday--november 11-west high lost a hard fought battle to the brilliant yellow-jackets, 14-19. hurrah! friday-november 12-rules or no rules a few hundred of the students of the school took a victory holiday. tuesday-november 16-betty lee brown entertained the library club at her home. 1 thursday-november 18-joe church and his rythmnairres gave a remem- berable performance sponsored by the hi-y. friday-november 19-a boxing exhibition offered amusement. the g. a. a.'s gave an active party and initiation. thursday--november 26-recuperation day, no school. monday-november 29-gerry horner was announced as president of the the newly organized junior girl reserves. tuesday-december 7- the arrival of kitty was an appreciated comedy presented by the thespians. friday-december 10-basketball season opened with a game between the varsity and faculty. the girl reserves presented ballet dancing in the auditorium. monday-december 13-the students of the entire school attended a student mix which proved to be very popular. tuesday-december 14- tune in, was an operetta given at west high which also had participants from our school. wednesday-december 15-going back to roman days, the saturnalia was an interesting activity of the latin club. thursday-december 16-a nickelodian was purchased, the pride of east high. tuesday-january 4-east side and grafton played, with honors going to grafton. wednesday-january 5-thespian troop held their initiation. friday-january 7-barbuscak dancing school performed for the students for the benefit of the orion. tuesday-january ll-east high vs. mannington. friday-january 14-enthusiastic east-west game. west won. tuesday-january 18-again grafton met east fairmont. friday-january 21-st. peters and east high met in east high gymnasium. monday-january 24- anne of greene gables was admirably portrayed, and presented by the senior class. wednesday-january 26-popularity contest selected jo jenkins and herman weeks as most popular students. thursday-january 27-semester exams. friday-january 28-st. peters was a guest of east fairmont. it was a rough and tough battle. co-curricular period featured a hill-billy show. thursday-february 3-father and daughter banquet was given by county girl reserves to honor their parents. fnrty-leve
