Wilmer Heisey was awarded the Q medal of merit. if When the ship entered Eighth Grade, a new addition to Q the school awaited it. That year Nr. J. W. Heisey SENIOR CLASS SONG CTune- You Walk By D Farewell dear school, we now must all depart With sweet mem'ries clinging to our hearts, WThe horizon widens as we climbn Trying hard to make our lives sublime. There We go, so happy yet so sad, Grateful for the pleasures we have had, Loyal, honest, we will have no fears Throughout the coming years. Ship ahoy, we now have set a-sail, Our ship of life, and hope we'll ride the gale, If it sinks before we reach our goal, 'e'll do our best to reach the nearest shoal. Throughout East Donegal Township, in one and two- 14 room schoolhouses, the future students of E. D. H. S. were iQ prepared. In 1956 we were joined together as a class .4 r V i ' for the first time. From Lincoln, Mt. Pleasant, Maytown, J f. and Washington schools came our members, filled with awe A Q-V at the large building which was now ours. T Our school life was made more pleasant by our intro- h ' duction to basketball and our gym classes. Competing in 91 our first intramural track meet, we upheld the honor of iq 'W the class by tying for second place. The following two 'T 5 years we captured the Junior High Championship. Athle- 'B A tics, however, did not occupy all the members of the i f X i' class. We were well represented also in music, dramatics U and journalism. Our class, too, held its own scholastiv cally. With the largest enrollment in school, we were al- 5 ways outstanding on honor rolls. It was at the completion of the freshman year that we crossed the first threshold of scholastic life by .W being graduated from the Junior High School. Ours was Tj 1 the third annual promotion to be held. Complete with E: Q lengthy orations, music and medals, we entered into the -2 f High School. i4 Q Our first year in High School was filled with great vi E events. It was during this year that we became the E4 tl 1 .1 u i 1 3- first Sophomore Class in the history of the school to Wi 3 win the track championships. For this we were awarded i f X , a silver cup which we determined to keep under our pro- ., x yi tection for the following years. It was as Sophomores V is that we placed several young men on varsity teams and Q 55 delegated members to attend the May Queen, adding to the I Wf prestige which we already had obtained. S2 VS Thus, after ten years of school life, We entered V fi the Junior Class. We started off on the right foot by v ig presenting our first dramatic production, WPeck's Bad K ki Boyn. Under the able direction of Miss Margaret Campbell N ', and after weeks of preparation, we enacted the play be- y tf. fore a large audience. It was immediately pronounced a ,Q Vi roaring success, financially as well as dramatically. V hp OUT class WHS honored further by the induction of a K V5 number of members into the National Honor Society. V tl Then, following the junior year, we are placed in M y the highest positions that the school can give us we I wi hope to serve her honorably and to the best of our .H ? ability. it f X: Ni' 's ,Q f 'T'- - MT 'i MT u 'd rr' 'A 1 :M-s:' rr: 'fri X -' ,w--- -, . ,, ,. . ,. , R - X.,,-- ff J1, ff: A-, 1 7 ff , la I iff' l, 'Z ff , . 54 gg, 2 4 v Qs! v J Q! This Sophomore class has made some very enviable re- - cords for itself. During the Eighth Grade we were awarded a picture as the prize for the best decorations, placed first in the annual track and forensic events at the May , Day Celebration of 1940 and received the plaque. The first two years nobody noticed this class which grew steadily in size until their freshman year. when they enrolled this year the class had grown to seventy-one, but several have drgpped out dur- ing the course of time. The class represents quite a number of places. Cf the sixty-six members eighteen come from Florin, five from Maytown, two from Rheems, two from Kinderhook, fif- teen from Mount Joy R.D., seven from Marietta R.D,, four from Elizabethtown R.D., and one from Columbia R.D. Of these, thirteen live outside the township. When it came time for the class to choose courses some were undecided but most finally chose the commer- cial course. It looks as though the world will receive some good businessmen and stenographers from the twenty- two pupils who have chosen this course. There will be some college students of the sixteen who are taking the academic course. There are seventeen pupils who have cho sen the general course and ten young farmers who are studying agriculture, The class is proud of the members whose names have appeared on the honor rglls--several on the NA' and more on the WBW lists. The class is well-represented in other activities also. The school librarians are all freshman girls, who work in the library morning, noon, evening and during study periods. At the beginning of the year a spelling bee was held for the Junior High School. Three of the four participants from the Ninth Grade won the three prizes. On April 5rd, a roller skating party was held at the Olympia.Skating Rink in Lancaster. The party was sponsored by the Ninth Grade, with a number of other students attending, too, The class has been active in many sports. During the winter a ping-pong tournament was held. The Junior High Girls' champion was a Freshman. The class has also carried off honors in other sports, some of these being basketball, baseball, volley ball, hockey and soccer. The freshman are proud to have had 'ive boys on the Junior High basketball teama The students of the Freshman Class look forward to the time when they shall be looked upon by other students of the High School and by the faculty as being a class that has helped the school and the community in the past. -',lv,...T,,..v.--,..,.....,.....i...,,,.. n.A..-.-- ..,..7,.,.L5L:, rv... .Info-any,.,:,.:.n.t.1,.y:. y L,Ay3,..,,.A,' wif., 3 1 . it all he wtf! 1 1, .f ,.k. v lilivv ' W ff ' Ju, L, by . 4, ' V ji! ,Z X I f' We z. y f Xx 6 ZX.. , . .Af W..
