The members of the East Deer-Frazer School Board are makers of policy, managers of system, and mappers of plans. They supervise the school calendar, the employment of teachers, the main- tenance of school facilities, and the laws governing the school. Outstand- ing men of our community, these representatives ably execute their responsibilities and successfully run our school. Mr. McCaskey, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and an em- ployee in the Technical Services Division of Gulf Research, is the first Edfra graduate to serve on the Board. WILLIAM M. Interest and endurance largely determine efficiency. Efficiency during youth, studies, games, and maturity largely determines happiness. Hap- piness largely determines disposition and attitude. Although the efforts of the school are to supple- ment the responsibility of the home and community for the health of children, the members of the board of education, who represent the parents and taxpayers, insist that a comprehensive, child-cen- tered program functions to help you, our stu- dents, achieve and maintain a high standard of health. The aim of guidance is to help you achieve your own highest level of personal, civic, and occupational compe- tence. Success for you includes mental, physical, voca- tional and aesthetic development, as well as those inner satisfactions which come from a well-adjusted life. Guidance activities here in Edfra, under the direc- tion of Dr. Marcus T. Allias, are based upon the recogni- tion of individual differences, the basic concepts of human growth and development, the diversity of pres- ent-day educational opportunities, the complexity of modern occupational life, the importance of human rela- tions, the right of the individual to make his own choices, and the realization that the adjustment of an individual to his life situations is an ever changing process.
