7, Business Club tells story of The Day the Redmen Crashed on the Stock Market. Fluffy floats, animated floats, colorful floats- all these helped to give a touch of excitement and anticipation to the parade. Beginning with the Caveman patiently turning his new invention, the wheel, and ending with tomor- row's space walks, the floats told a story of some of history's dramatic moments. Samson, Caesar, and Nero were present in per- son. The first transcontinental railroad rolled again and the crash of the stock market in 1929 provided the slogan Crash the Redmenv. High school bandsmen in bright uniforms, cam- pus beauties in shiny convertibles, and gay cos- tumed clowns were part of the possession.. BSU wins first place with HA Golden Day for East Central East Central Tiger helps Zeta Tau Alpha maids from Boston to Dump the Rcdmen Winning Floats Depict Historical Moments Winners of the Homecoming float contest portrayed some of the memorable moments in history. Baptist Stu- dent Union members worked many hours on their large float showing miners panning gold during the l850's. Industrial Arts Club with an astronaut orbiting in space represented a recent ugreatv. Phi Kappa Tau also chose for a theme a successful air venture, Lindberghis solo flight to Paris. Members of Zeta Tau Alpha recreated a scene from Revo- lutionary days with their Boston tea party planning to Dump the Redmenn. Floats competed for both money prizes and recognition as the East Central Homecoming brought to the campus the most memorable weekend of the year.
