PRESIDENT CPF COLLEGE Charles F. Spencer MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT To the Students, Faculty, and other Friends of East Central: Tom Payne wrote as the American Revolution was beginning, These are times that try men's souls. The same may be said about the times in which we live-and the same could be said about many periods in many countries. The old order changes. Old institutions are modified or disappear, and new institutions are born. So it is today. I venture to predict that historians will look back on our day as a period of great progress. The Faculty of East Central aims to make the college an important influence in the lives of young people who attend it, to help them prepare for useful service and abundant living. We do this with the faith that, if we cultivate the mind and spirit of man, the other things which seem so necessary to our welfare and happiness, will be added unto us.
