A cloud framed the crest. Roaring machines barrelled over the top. One skidded to the front just long enough to come in first under the win- ner's banner. The winner, Chase McDougald, number 11, had been interested in motorcycle racing since he was 11. One day I saw some kids on T.V. racing motorcycles. It looked cool so l talked to my parents and they got me a bike, Chase said. Chase, who was also on the freshman basketball team, had been injured several times Riding motorcycles takes a lot out of a growing boy. Chase McDougald chows on a hamburger and french fries to keep his strength up. while racing. Although sometimes the injury was serious, Chase could find the humor in it. l was going over a track and a dog ran out of the bushes. I swerved, but still hit the dog. He was okay, but I went to the hospital with a broken elbow, he said. Chase wants to race as long as possible. As long as l hold together, that is! X0 00 ...161

ut on Top s many received awards for numerous things, one person stands out with his special honor, being nominated as one of the states' top five superintendents. lt's a real honor. It reflects the support of the Board of Trustees and the support of East Central. lt's real good for East Central , Anthony B. Constanzo said. Being a superintendent takes an average of 10-11 hours a day. Setting new goals to be developed was a part of those hours. 1 l-le also said that he would like to improve the instruc- tional programs and facilities. The improvement doesn't end , Mr. Constanzo said, it continues. Another important part of the district was the administration. Anthony B. Administration The captain of the ship was Principal Ramona Ward. Mrs. Ward did everything to keep the school on an even keel. The attitudes this year are great! The kids are real en- thusiastic and positive , Mrs. Ward said. One of the main things striv- ed for this year was good behavior. A new discipline plan was put into effect by most teachers. The behavior this year has improved. The students' behavior has been surprisingly commendable , Marvin Foster, vice principal, said. An aspect that concerned vice-principal Steve Johnson was academics. I would like to improve the academic department with the writing lab , Mr. Johnson said. The tasks were abundant, the time was short, but everyone kept things smooth. Looking back, Superintendent An- before the big Judson gai thony B.
