It takes creativity and patience to develop and improve my character, Shawn Moerhing said. Shawn had been a perform- ing clown for four years. He started out working with pup- pets, and then developed his character to form Willy, his clown personality. He enjoyed performing because he liked the feeling of cutting loose and acting crazy. 156 . . . Freshmen Willy has been to a lot of functions, he's performed at birthday parties, grand- openings, and other celebra- tions, Shawn said. During the summer Shawn performed regularly, but dur- ing school he could only work on the week-ends. I get paid S10 to S25 an hour. l work for a company called the Clown Factory, and they tell me when and where to work, Shawn said.
