'87 '87 ' '87 '87 '87 :spite the hours of practice, Angie athen enjoys scuba diving as her vorite hobby. She can be found ading about her hobby. Q 9 4 World of ater was sitting on the edge of the boat waiting my turn in line. This was my first dive and I was filled with excitement and enthusiasm. SPLASH!!! The cool water stung my face as I entered. Once I was down there for a couple of minutes I was beginning to feel fabulous and confident about my first dive. It was like being back in the practice pool, except there were living things all around me instead of concrete. Angie Wathen would pro- bably never forget the thrills and sensations of her first dive. She became interested in scuba diving when she was a young child. I've always dreamed of exploring the underwater world, she said. Learning how to scuba dive took hours of practice. It took her six weeks, two times a week. Each class was four hours long. As a beginner, she had to learn how to use a mask which protected her eyes, a snorkle and fins. Scuba diving has made one of her dreams a reality. As I entered the ring, I was trying to develop a good type of con- centration. l was trying to take my mind off what had happen- ed to the rider before me in the ring. l-le was thrown from his bull. Luckily he was not hurt too seriously by the fall. The gate was flung open, and the bull came charging out of the gate with me on his back. The crowd was filled with excite- ment. l was trying my best to hold on for the required amount of time. ldid it! Tommy Yeater had probably been in this type of situation many times. I-le had been rodeoing since he was four years old. Over the past twelve years he had won a horse trailer, 66 belt buckles, and 13 saddles. Yeater competed in bullriding and bareback riding, which required the rider to stay on for eight seconds. l-le also competed in calf roping. I enjoy rodeoing, he said. He wants to join the PRCA tProfessional Rodeo Cowboys Associationl when he finishes high school.
