i' 9 9 '86 '86 986 86 86 36 l l Dawnette Bryant is all smiles, She las just been awarded the title of San mtonio's Junior Miss. unior 'ss uppose you had the chance to be San Ana tonio's Junior Miss. l-low would you feel? AlI l can say is l feel very excitedl , Dawnette Bryant said. As titleholder, Dawnette was in the Thanksgiving River Parade, and spoke to other teenage girls at schools around the city among other activities. Prizes received were an ivory bracelet, a S350 cash scholarship, and a 952,000 scholarship from St. Mary's University, which she used for summer classes. After gradua- tion she attended Texas AGM in the fall. Aside from being Junior Miss, Dawnette was also class vice-president, Student Coun- cil vice-president, Honeybee captain, in Beta Club, Spanish Club, NHS, FCA, and a stu- dent staff Campus Life member. None of the activities weigh me down, but every now and then, the homework does, she said. No, it was Rome at E. . in modern day America. During senior week 306 niors celebrated the annual ga Day. The day began with niors frantically trying to pull ieir sheets together by stick- ing safety pins here and there. Don't pin the sheet to me, pin it to my shirt! , one girl said. Ouchl , another said. Whether one was standing in the middle of the dark hall or in Cecil Vasquez's room didn't matterg there were bound to be seniors wrapped in sheets with leaves on their heads. As the day progressed, the students found that being seniors was a holiday in itself.
