Luck-stricken Traci Allen knew the feeling when she was crowned Princess of the Court of Mystic Africa last November. Fleigning princess for one year, her duty was to ride on a float in the Cotton Bowl Parade in Dallas. I also got a free ticket to the Cotton Bowl football game. lt was cold, but fun! , in she said. She was nominated by a friend who was duchess the year before, but says that she already knew she won because they had to notify me about five months in ad- vance so I would have time to make the dress and train. Traci was in Honeybees, Campus Life, French Club, and Centurions for Christ. From the Lutheran churches in San Antonio and surroun- ding cities, approximately 15 girls were chosen each year. AlI l can say is l feel very excitedl , Dawnette Bryant said. As titleholder, Dawnette was in the Thanksgiving River Parade, and spoke to other teenage girls at schools around the city among other activities. Prizes received were an ivory bracelet, a S350 cash scholarship, and a 952,000 scholarship from St. Mary's University, which she used for summer classes. After gradua- tion she attended Texas AGM in the fall. Aside from being Junior Miss, Dawnette was also class vice-president, Student Coun- cil vice-president, Honeybee captain, in Beta Club, Spanish Club, NHS, FCA, and a stu- dent staff Campus Life member. None of the activities weigh me down, but every now and then, the homework does, she said.
