Accepting an award at the Band banquet here is Albert Alfaro. Albert won the Sophomore achievement award. He received a standing ovation. Playing a tribute on Veteran Day is Adam Hodriquez. He does a trumpet solo of Taps in a ceremony to pay respect to all veterans. ll year very year when September rolls around the students come back to school anxious to sign up and pay dues for all the clubs they want to join. Yes, for a lot of people September is the time to start worrying about club membership. However, there are quite a few clubs that re- main active all year round. No, you didn't misunders- tand me. There are clubs that don't have any summer break. For instance, the band holds a number of practices during the summer break. Also, the yearbook staff, the pep squad, and Honeybees send members to camps and workshops over the summer months. The Ag club is another year-round club. The members buy animals during the summer and start to train them and raise them getting 126. . .Clubs them ready for competitions and shows early in the year. And you thought clubs were just a nine month thing. Taking day and weeks out of their summer vacation to participate in club activities takes a lot of dedication. A lot of these students had jobs or other responsibilities and still manage to excel in their clubs. That's an admirable ac- complishment any way you look at it. These year-round clubs would not be successful if it weren't for the dedication and determination of the club members, All the credit doesn't go the the members though. lt takes an involved sponsor to make a club work during the summer.
