At a meeting of YFC before Christmas break, members discuss a food drive and make plans to go to Four Seasons Nursing Home to sing some Christmas carols. Fred Jurek, club sponsor, tells them where to meet and when. Plannin magine walking into a room. There were a few students in this room, and one disappointed-looking adult. This was the club sponsor. One of two things might be taking place. Either you were having a strange dream with no significant meaning or you've walked in on a club meeting. It seems that club meetings were not the most popular things in the world For every football game the Art Club makes a great crash poster. This one is for the Fox Tech game, Charles Watkins and Randy Mar- tinez discuss details ofthe poster, 1 X anymore, now that they couldn't take place during class time. Yes, thanks to everyone's favorite house bill the clubs had to meet before school, during lunch, and after school. l don't know if that was part of the 1604 wishes, but it does seem to turn a lot of people's opi- nions of meetings a little sour. It was not the end of the world though. It was not like getting up 30 minutes early for a club meeting ever killed anyone. lt was not like they were asking members to bob for apples in a tub of gasoline. 6 O 113 +1

This is the first year that we had male cheerleaders and it turned out to be successful. These guys surprised everyone. nf ff , I ff, qfgt. rK School outings magine, if you will, getting on a bus loaded with friends and fellow club members. Your destination is a far away place, your goal: recreation. The only thing stopping the group short of total chaos is the bus driver and the club sponsor. This is a normal club trip. But on a more serious note, there is more to club trips than endless hours of fun and games. No one knows what else there is because no one has ever gotten past the fun and games part of the trips, but l'm sure there is a serious note in there somewhere. lf not who needs a serious note anyway? For those of you who are saying there's more to life than club trips, you're right. But, these club trips do enhance the clubs and benefit 114...CIubS the members. It you were a club member wouldn't you en- joy loading up on a bus and getting away from the daily routine for a few days? I know I would. Some clubs tripped this year to Austin and even to Corpus Christi. The only thing the students had to do was have fun and learn something along the way. Now what they learned is still a mystery to mankind. But surely there was something learned by someone. House Bill 72 may have done away with some of the fun involved in being a club member. But, the clubs sill have the club trips to look for- ward to. Cleaning her sheep for the big stock show is this FFA member. Melissa Henkes takes great care to make her animal look its best. n V4 :wil Uv, my V .W .7 WW rn
