J ob sites mong many seniors and juniors DE, ICT, Ag. Coop., and l-IO were five pret- ty popular classes. The reason you ask? Only half a day of school, lanswer. Sure the students had to hold a job, working at least 20 hours a week, but that was a picnic compared to a full six- class-a-day schedule. I don't know about you but I would let someone ram toothpicks underneath my fingernails for four hours a day if it meant getting out of school at 11:30. Not only were these stupen- dous youths getting out of school for half a day every day, but they were also mak- ing money and learning how to live in the so called real world. l know what you must be thinking, this sounds too good to be true. You're saying this guy must be lying. But Fund raisers like this Student Coun- cil snow cone sale build the working skills of the students. At a snow cone sale students learn about the business side of life. 110. . .Clubs fear not, it's the truth I speak. Theres more too. As if all the above were not enough these students also got to attend leadership conferences in far away places and have possibly more fun than humans should be allowed. Now, the big question that must be forming on every mind. What about Perot? What about House Bill 72? l-low can this sort of festivity be allowed on the school's time? Well, ac- tually these courses were a great asset to the learning pro- cess. But don't take it from me, ask any student that's leaving while the rest of us were anxiously awaiting the second half of the school day, Writing out receipts is all part of a day's work tor Frances Gutierrez.
