YW Clay Candy, Herman Buckley, Maggie Tudhope and other band members count the minutes before contest. The Golden Hornet Band prepares to play for the trail drive. During the year of 1974--75 the East Central Band participated in many ac- tivities. Along with performing at each ofthe football games, the band played at Frankis Drive-in to raise money for the Band Booster Club. The Golden Hornet Band also marched in parades. This year they took part in the annual Rodeo parade and they also marched in the Battle of Flowers Parade. 36 Band During the school year there were many individual contests for band mem- bers to enter such as solo and ensemble. The Colden Hornet Band went to John Marshall High School to partici- pate in the U. l. L. concert and sight reading competition. Many hours of hard work paid off when they received all one ratings from all judges in both contests. These ratings qualified the band for sweepstakes winners. Mr. Kunz thanks the president of the trai drive for congratulating the Hornet Band. 2 l Z 1 Some ofthe band members warm up before starting to play.
