East Central opened the District 14- AMX East Zone raee with a 27-2 win over the Southside Cardinals. hringing their season to 3-1-0. The Hornets scored first when I.. Nia- jette ran in from the five yard line. The seore heeame 13-0 when B. Hielts hlasted through from the three yard line. R. Smith hit C. Cunningham with a -ll- yard pass. Hicks then gained another six points hy running nine yards. K. Rush ran 19 yards for another Hornet seore. U. Yeates passed to Hieks for two points. East Central traveled to New liraunfels to go against the Canyon Cougars for their second district win. hringing their season record to 4--1-0. The Hornets opened the game when they kieked to Canyon. East Central scored their first seven points after a series of' plays when R. Smith ran around left end. A bad snap hy Canyon in the end zone led to a Hornet safety. With 42 seconds left in the third quarter Lloyd Majette intereepted a pass. Cougar penalties and hard runs hy li. Hicks hrought the hall to the eleven yard line. R. Smith again took the hall around left end for another seven points. H. Hohhins stopped a Cougar drive when he intereepted a pass on the 46 yard line. Action Filled the Year or Hornets East Central brought their season record to 1-I-0 with a close victory over the Judson Rockets. The Hornets first score came with a pass completed to C. Cunningham. R. Smith carried the ball seven yards for the Hornet's second touchdown. The game was close to the last minutes with Judson in the lead when R. Forsythe caught a pass and ran it over for the final 20-19 victory. East Central brought their season record to 2-1-0 when they shut out the Antonian Apaches 35-0. Hornet fullback B. Hicks scored on 136 fsootlball three touchdown plays. L. Majette broke loose for a fifty-yard run for another East Central touchdown. R. Hornet Uffense Breaks Away From Opponents The Hornets opened the game with a kick ull' to The Buffaloes got a break when they blocked a Hornet punt setting up good position on the Hornet 28 which led to six points for Clemens. East Central came back with a 70-yard drive ending with a 42-yard touchdown run by B. Hicks with less than 3 minutes left in the first half. Early in the third quarter R. Robbins received a pass from R. Smith and ran 40-yards for another seven points. B.
