Betty Gray and her Senior English classes recreated a day in the Middle Ages as a part of their study of THE CANTERBURY TALES. On Can- terbury Tales Day, students attended school dressed in authentic medieval costumes. lVlrs. Lou Williains' Home and Family Living classes prepared a medieval feast. Dishes such as Chawd- wyn, a dish of chopped liver, animal blood, bread crumbs and spices was served along with i'blancmanger which is white meat of chicken with spices and jelly. Nladrigal singers and band mem- bers playing llutes, drums, and trumpets provided the music. The Canterbury Tales Day was given coverage by three television stations and two newspapers. 9 i Exchange Student Finds New Friends 1 9 Above: Ricky Ribeiro realizes that it's a small world when he meets Silvio Nigro who is also a foreign exchange student from Brazil. Ricky Ribeiro, a native Brazilian, was East Central's first foreign exchange stu- dent. He lived with Major Wells and his family. Ricky was quickly exposed to special events which take place in and out of school. Ricky attended extracur- ricular activities and took part in many school activities. He was recognized at a football game with special halftime ceremonies in his honor. Ricky attended all of the Fiesta Week activities with a group of foreign exchange students from around San Antonio.
