The Jr. High awards were presented along with the high school by various individuals during the awards ceremony. Emcee for the program was Reagan Wyser, a senior here at school. Each winner received a certificate, which was designed by George Scarbrough, also a senior here. A dance featuring Brimstone followed the awards presentations, rounding out the Who's Who evening. Their activities range from Church Youth Programs to Science Fairs to Band to Football and all maintain qualities that uphold a fine representation of our High School. Walter Shackleford Lowry. a versatile fellow. is a faithful member of the Annual Staff, the Band, and the Science Club. He is valedictorian and head of the graduating class of 1975 with a high A average. Walter will be well- remembered for his many achievements and continuing good spirits. Reagan Lloyd Wyser is noted for his leadership ability and fervent love of sports. He is basketball team captain and is the '75 recipient of the H.S. Best Rebounder Award. Susan Denise Bush is appreciated for her loyal continuity of service in the E.C. Band. A talented flutist, she is also a majorette and has received the honorable superior rating at Solo and Ensemble Contest. Reagan and Susan share the salutatorian honor. Incredibly . they tie with a 94.6 scholastic average. 38 James Brent Cumbest is remembered especially for his cheery personality. He is chosen as Mr. E.C. H.S. , Class Favorite, and Most Likely to Succeed this 1974-75 year. He is a Student Council activist, an officer in the Beta Club. the Senior Class Vice President, and a member of the Band and the Football Team. Lisa Darlene Cumbest is an avid actuator in almost every club our school has seen fit to offer. Seldom does one find her without an impending project at hand, be it fund-raising or fun-raising. Perhaps because of her genuine concern and involvement, Lisa is well-liked among the students here and is the recipient of such honors as Miss E.C. H.S. , Friendliest, and Most Popular. George Linwood Scarbrough may seem to most to be chiefly an intent musician, but little is it known just how many activities in which he is a part. It is true that he holds several offices in the Band, but George also finds the time for those tedious tasks that few will undertake. For example. he is the '75 Senior Wall Emblem designer, as well as the originator and artist of this year's E. C. Who's Who Winner Certificates. His quiet creativity is realized and appreciated . 39 Barry Eugene Smith is a guy who possesses an unusual portion of amiability. His ability to get along with everyone is admired by all he meets and has seen him elected to such positions as Senior Class President and Student Council President. Barry. is an active sportsman and an able initiator. East Central needs more Barry Smiths. Gerald Eugene Rice is a subtle sort of person. You can always find Gerald where he is supposed to be, doing what he is supposed to do. Although he is involved with football and track and other extracurricular activities. his grades are impervious to these partakings and he is always caught up in class . . . if only more students would follow Gerald's example. Brenda LeBourhis Sims is remembered for her valuable service to the Band during her four high school years. Brenda is the head majorette for the E.C. Band and is proven to be a responsible leader. Always at work on a new routine, she's kept pride in the Majorette Corps and competition in the flute section . 40 Linda Lavelle Wells is just as active 3 student outside school as she is in. She is involved in her church MYF group. the 4-H Club, and the local softball team. Always smiling, Linda seems to have somehow found that knack for living that all are continuously searching for in life. She and her many comparable friends will certainly be missed. Robert Bradley Orso is, maybe because of his gratifying personality, a very popular image at E.C. High. He is the winner of the coveted Most Handsome and Most Popular Awards in the 1975 Who's Who Program. Robert also holds the Best-Dressed title for his junior and senior years. In addition to his popularity, Robert is noted for his offensive running and blocking in football . Brenda Sue Clark is an acute case of real school spirit. On the basketball team for her four consecutive high school years, she is an excellent example of a real trooper. Brenda doesn't just join, she commits herself to all she becomes involved in. She is also a steady softball teammate . Because of her real sense of commitment, Brenda has become a true part of East Central and will be remembered as one who is genuinely concerned . Junior High Homecoming The Junior High Homecoming of the 1974-75 Hornet year was an exciting event. As the years pass, each activity seems to get bigger and better at E.C. High. Out Junior Homecoming showed many cynics that the junior division is making progress as well. Freshman Leta Goff was chosen by the Junior High Hornet Team to reign over the annual event. She was crowned by the 1973-74 Junior High School Homecoming Queen, Miss Susie Tynes. Junior-Qenior Prom The 1975 East Central Junior-Senior Prom was held at the Ramada Inn in Mobile, Alabama. This was the first prom in several years to be held away from the school. It was a DEFINITE FIRST for a banquet to precede the dance. The program during the banquet included the reading of the class will and the class prophesy. Everyone seemed to really get a kick out of that. lsometimes the kick was good , sometimes it was badl. Laughter was continual. It all went over very well. but you could tell that we were anxious to hear the band. AMERICANA of Mobile played for the dance that was held in the Camelia room. Faculty. parents. and students alike danced to the rock and roll . There was really a wonderful sense of togetherness. Everyone seemed to know everyone else. Good feelings got into us all. The night flew by. That Saturday, May 10. will be a date we'll always remember. Next year's prom will hold a whole new crowd of faces and reactions and fun. We may never pass this way again - the theme. It Ky - . .3 -ij ? ' ?w W? W 1975 Bacoalaureafe service W'W' 's'1 .
