On December 4, 1970, the Warriors, North Division champs, played Pearl River for the Magnolia State Championship. Although the Warriors were defeated, they certainly made a record for themselves during the '70 season. Coaches for the Warrior team are Ken Pouncey, head coach, and Teeny Coats. Both men worked with the team members to make a Warrior team that the entire student body can be proud of. GO WARRIORS! 90 Q A Outstanding Team Members Highlights from the gamesitw The Warriors opened their 1970 season with a bang! The Warriors were victorious, 34-30, against a slightly larger team from Jones County. The momentum of the Warriors and their fans increased as the game progressed. The Warriors continued their winning streak by defeating Itawamba 16 to 9 in a tough game on the road. With 1:23 left Itawamba threw the bomb and got a touchdown but there was a flag on the play which charged Itawamba with holding and they were penalized 15 yards. Itawamba threatened again by Billy Barham intercepted an Itawamba pass with 42 seconds left. At this point tempers seemed to flare up. Warrior quarterback, Bagley, then ran the clock out and East Central won 10-9. The Warriors defeated Northeast 52-15 during Homecoming Activities. The future looks bright for the team-certainly an improvement over last year's season. Warriors to play Pearl River Dec. 4 for Magnolia State Championship on Warrior Field. This was truly the NOW year in athletics. Although defeated for the state junior college championship. the Warriors proved themselves a tough team to defeat. A certificate is issued upon satisfactory completion of one of the programs. Many job opportunities are available to those who complete one of the programs. Classroom activities in each vocation and related fields as well as actual shop experiences are given each student. Vocational programs include Auto Mechanics, Body and Fender, Electricity, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, Machine Shop, Radio and Television Repair, and Welding. Students are given an opportunity to experiment with projects such as the one Ernie Wilkerson conducted. After completing the blueprints for a house, Ernie constructed a model of the house and showed the wiring and piping in detail. Ernie is in the architectural-drafting program which is also under the vocational-technical department. l - F T Trest, Lewis A , 'vs - Lena, Miss. - Tripplett, Floyd . .QA X Louisville, Miss. E.
