Jlfleaiczg.-5 fiom fga .fwzaiicfafzf To the Clem of194O.' You came to East Central Iunior College two years ago with high hopes and enthusiasm. Loyalty and good sense have characterized your stay. We have enjoyed the fruits of these attitudes. The college has gone forward greatly during the period. It won high academic rating from the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schoolsg its athletic teams have won the highest honors in one sport and made great records in others. In debating, music, and dramatics new levels have been reached. Religious and other inter-school groups have made greater contributions than heretofore. You have heard it said that this is a troublesome and complex time in the affairs of the world, that there is no chance left for your gen- eration. Let me say as emphatically as l can that the latter is not only false, but because of the very nature of the times, there are great- er opportunities for you than for any recent generation. Do not let anything or anybody destroy your ambition. enthusiasm, loyalty, and good sense. By dent of hard work, by the use of intelligence, by working for the general welfare, you will make a place for yourselves, whether it be in humble or exalted station. Needless to say, we shall want you to return to us as often as pos- sible. And we assure you that our good wishes and sincere interest are with you always. You go forth with our blessing. Sincerely, f 7' f. . 0119! President -i I 4 1
