Ji DEAN OF MEN Dr. Tucker joined the faculty in Sep- tember 1955 as Dean of Men. Since that time, many of the men have waited on the little bench outside his office for an interview for self-help work. As Director of Student Personnel, he has given help and guidance in many student problems. Dean Tucker is a native North Caro- linian. He received his B.S. from Appa- lachian State Teachers College and his M.Ed and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina. Prior to World War II he taught in the public schools of this state. Dr. Tucker was discharged as Lt. Commander U. S. Navy Reserve in 1946. Just prior to joining the East Carolina College faculty, he was Associate Pro- fessor of Education at Furman Uni- versity. Mc l ut i 7( Ute DEAN OF WOMEN Dean White has led a life devoted to the advancement of education in North Carolina. Before joining the faculty here. Miss White was a teacher in the public schools of Roanoke Rapids. She joined the fac- ulty here in 1937 as Dormitory Counse- lor and held that position until 1945 when she was made Assistant Dean of Women. Miss White, a native North Caro- linian, was graduated from East Caro- lina Teachers Training School in 1925; received her A.B. from East Carolina Teachers College in 1939; and in 1951 her M.A. from East Carolina College. Dean White has truly set an example of loyalty to our college.

OPPELT Director of Placement Bureau During our last year at East Carolina, we all turn to Dr. Oppelt for guidance. Our problems are handled with understanding and conscientious sincerity. DR. E. J. CARTER Director of Field Service We owe a great deal to Dr. Carter for he, along with many others, has played an im- portant part in the growth of East Carolina.
