THE MASTER MIND, Lannic Crocker, in irhosc head was formulated the maze of copy, .icturcs, appointments, all of which took form i this book — a monument to her perseverance. FEATURE EDITOR, Hattie Ruth Wilson checks feature pictures with assistant editor Jeanette Smith. BEST FOOT FORWARD Every effort has been made to make the 1956 Buccaneer a book for the students and a credit to East Carolina. Work was begun late in the spring of 1955 and was completed in the spring of 1956. This edition represents the thirty-fourth annual report of student life at East Carolina College. In collecting and editing the copy material for the annual, the editors have exercised special care to obtain authentic and accurate information. The information in copy material re- quired co-operation from every campus organization. Snap- shots representing every phase of activity from the week of freshman orientation to the splendor of May Day were viewed and selected carefully. Representatives were established in various organizations to inspect their page material, while the copy staff gave careful attention to the copy of the entire book. The Buccaneer business staff was responsible for the sell- ing, financing, and distributing the 1956 book. Successful advertising sales and a portion of the student activity fee fur- nished the necessary finances. The rest was accomplished by the efficient work of the business staff. The staff sincerely hopes that this book will always be a re- minder to each student of a glorious year spent at East Carolina. COPY EDITORS, fim Corum and Pc—y Brooks write and proof copy.
