to DR. BEECH ER FLANAGAN lue .Jjedicate tke 1930 Jecoayi who has served during this year as advisor to the Senior Class and the Y. M. C. A. During the twenty-five years that Dr. Flanagan has been an instructor at East Carolina, he has been advisor, counselor, and friend to many of the organizations now on out campus. He has served as sponsor of the Phi Sigma Pi since it was organized in 1936. Dr. Flanagan has also been an advisor to the Tecoon, the Teco Echo, Pieces O ' Eight, Budget Committee, and the Men ' s Athletic Association. If we were asked the definition of the word friend, we would say the student body hias a good friend in the person of Dr. Flanagan.

Dear Students, Our college is made richer because of your coming. Within you lie great possibilities. You are among the fortunate few who have the op- portunity to attend college. The value of this will depend upon you. Our world will be mode better or worse through your activities. Everyone has some influence. How this is used is the important thing. Strive to succeed in your chosen life ' s work, but be sure that you exemplify the Golden Rule in all of your activities. There is great need for leadership to bring peace out of chaos and joy out of sorrow. You should help to provide that function. We are expecting much from you. Fraternally yours.
