REPLITATION AND CHARACTER The circumstances amid which you live determine your reputation: the truth you believe determines your character. Reputation is what you are supposed to beg character is what you are. Reputation is the photographg character is the face. Reputation comes over one from without: character grows up from within. Reputation is what you have when you come to a new community: character is what you have when you go away. Your reputation is learned in an hourg your character does not come to light for a year. Reputation is made in a momentg character is built in a lifetime. Reputation grows like a mushroomg character grows like the oak. A single newspaper report gives you your reputationg a life of toil gives you your character. Reputation makes you rich or makes you poorg character makes you happy or makes you miserable. Reputation is what men say about you on your tombstoneg character is what angels say about you before the throne of God. NEW FRIENDS AND OLD FRIENDS Make new friends, but keep the old, Those are silver, these are gold. New-made friendships, like new wine, Age will mellow and refine. Friendships that have stood the test- Time and change - are surely best, Brow may wrinkle, hair grow gray, Friendship never knows decay. For 'mid old friends, tried and true, Once more we reach and youth renew. But old friends, alas! may die, New friends must their place supply, Cherish friendships in your breast- New is good, but old is best, Make new friends, but keep the old, Those are silver, these are gold. Baseball The 1984 Viking baseball team enjoyed its finest season in many years at EBHS. The team finished regular season play with a record of 14-4 and then advanced to tournament play. The Vikings proceeded to beat Norwell, Hull and Nauset in the tournament and finally lost to Old Colony by a score of 3-1 in the Eastern Mass. Championship game. The team earned the ti- tle of Division III Eastern Mass. runners-up following this game. Another highlight of the season was the selection of Ken Smith, john Willis, jack Kaiser, Bob Boucher, and Eamon Kingman for the South Shore League All-Star team. Although many Hne players have graduated, a number of promising underclassmen will remain for the 1985 season. 1 L' 5 I 4 'L 1' 1 Y'f 1 f '15, .V . 5,-4- , ',.a1f,k,,-:fra . 1 is 5- - .V A J. fl! L. That's the best word to describe how these girls played soccer all season long - as champions. Their record of 17 wins and 3 losses is a definite indication of this. Even many years after the eight seniors of the 1984 South Shore League Champions have left, they will still be remembered for their great performances this season. The girls advanced to the state tournament, where they proceed- ed to beat Weston. They were then defeated by Abington.
