BUT THESE DAYS SHALL NOT BE FORGOTTEN EAST BRIDGEWATER HIGH SCHOOL EAST BRIDGEWATER, MASSACHUSETTS A T J FORWARD Hidden in a mosque of ignorance and inadequacy, Serving as our own worst enemy we came. We knew not and we cared not. Around us was a world speeding by, leaving us helplessly behind. Despite ourselves, we were able to reach out and grasp a part of that world - a world which we were to know, to respect, to love - that world of EBHS. . .EBHS which for so long has been our present, but which is quickly becoming an element of the past. What can we say about that world? What can we say of the people we have met, the friends we have made, the things we have learned, and the things we should have learned? We can not measure our emotion for that life which we have always known, and are about to lose, nor shall we try, but regardless of all that lies ahead, these days shall not be forgotten. SYS.-lviis Pictured here is an individual who, to us, has become the Spirit of '67 . A person whose warmth, understanding, devotion and most-cherished wit have helped to fuse us into a unified and enthusiastic class. If we have attained any degree ot success, it is largely due to the efforts of this same individual who has made Sixty-seven-best ever her personal motto. During the past four years, we have come to respect her as a teacher, admire her as an advisor, and love her as a friend. Because we ultimately turn to what is fami- liar and beloved, we, the Class of l967, dedicate our yearbook to Mrs. Eileen Malloy, E.B.M., Mumsie, the Spirit of '67 ! Though you may not witness a lineup of ninety some-odd rigid, soldier-like seniors, we truly salute Mr. Raymond Hamilton in our minds and hearts. We salute this man who, though he may stay close behind Mr. Urban in a football game , will stand confidently at the front lines as our commander of success. Golden braids, wings, and stripes of rank are not part of his uniform. Now we wish to dec- orate him with tour intangible medals-admiration, respect, friendship and thanks. SAL TA T10 pzymoml A. Hamilton ME M ORIAM -Q.. X, I lk lkbf hd T ldflp Ah Uk Cheryl Fmfriezf 1949 - 1962 If PR CIPA Lis' MESSA GE To the Class ot I967: Throughout your lite you will find learning the reflection of living. From every experience ot living comes learning. A delegate to the United Nations once wrote, When you stop learning, you stop living in any vital and meaningful sense. And the purpose of life, atter all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience. K Q in Now you are shaping your life. This process will not end. The choices you make are your respon- sibility. Thus I ask you to learn every moment of your life. You will discover as your mind and being grow you will in reality be learning to live. As commencement approaches may I say l am proud of you. I wish you Iife's best. It will be yours if you now commence an adulthood of learning and living. Raymond A. Hamilton Principal To the Class of 1967: Your high school graduation is a day charged with excitement, anticipation, and happiness. You've made it. And I congratulate each of you for the effort that brought you through your high school course. lf any single event marks your entrance into the adult world it is your graduation from high school. Until now you have been guided, counseled, advised and perhaps been controlled a little more than you thought necessary. But whatever path you take from now on, you will be a great deal more on your own than you have ever been in your life. You will face a great many more decisions alone, and you will be responsible for the results of these decisions. In my closing thought to the Class of 1967 may l say that the truly successful men and women of the world first mastered themselves before they tried to master business, government, the law, or whatever their personal dreams lead them to. They learned what is probably the most profound truth men have discovered in the history of organized society. . .that the truly successful man or woman must be able to get along with other people. This ort is the keystone to all success. Stanley B. Goldman Superintendent of School S PERI TENDENTS' MESSAGE FACULTY feezebezfs eelfe people, fee - .-N EJ I 2 1 ,. , 1 5 ff l 5, 43 ,. They are people who only a few years ago were learning themselves. Now it is their turn to teach, and we learn. But what we learn is not always what is being taught. That is that teachers have feelings, per- sonalities, and interests like all of us. Our four years of learning have given us a lasting impression of these people. STUDENT COUNCIL Perhaps the Council deserves more respect from the students at EBHS than it receives, for no other group does so much to help the student. This elected body not only strives to better student-teacher relations but to represent the student in all phases of school life. Thouqh too few of us realize it, the Student Council is suc- ceeding. Scholarship, leadership, service - these are the qualifications ofa National Honor Society member. They are the basis of the club itself. In former years, the N.H.S. was a little-known club, used only as a good reference on school records. Changes have been taking place. This year's National Honor Society has truly become an active club, proud of its motto, and willing to live up to it. Nur x- Front row: J. Persson, P. Sullivan, R. Poskus, Eklund, S. Roan, C. Perhaps, but through the J.C.L., it suddenly comes alive, showering upon its members a better understanding of the civi- lizations' of ancient Greece and Rome. Under the guidance of Miss Mary Sullivan, Latin students are given an out-of-the-classroom introduction to the art, literature, and laws of old, to which our modern society is indebted. FRE CH CHORAL AND ART The goings-on of This group are expressed in it's name-French Choral and Art. The lingo spoken is French, The arf examined-French, and the songs sung fsomefimes off-keyl are once again, French. And The atmosphere is friendly, as we all know the French can be. 4.3, Front row-J. In the Future Nurses Club a dual purpose is filled. The club gives girls who have an interest in a medical career a chance to see what may lie in store for them. For girls who have no idea of their future plans, it pro- vides information about one of the most rewarding careers possible. Through field trips, speakers, and service proiects, nursing becomes more an attainable goal. The club awards a scholarship each year and through the efforts of the members and Mrs. Hartman, the advisor, money is raised for this worthwhile proiect. The Nurses Club is surely an important and appreciated part of school activities. PUT RE URSES CLLB Front row-K. Clish, M. Wedge, W. Pease, T. Rogers, R. Thompson, K. Brock, K. Morey, P. Morey. We only see the finished product, a har- monious conglomeration ot clarinets, drums, and saxaphones, always beautifully comple- mented by the maiorettes. But we do realize that it takes a great deal of practice to give a performance. The capable guidance of the coaching staff was able to transform these ordinary students into ferocious Vikings. The most satisfying and treasured . victory came in the traditional Thanksgiving Day Game. Surely this was a perfect end to a wonderful season. A new spirit has hit E.B.H.S.
