SALUTATION The budding of a new idea - untried - untaughtg Opinion-born and bold sent on a whimsical thoughtg The eye that looked with pity on all worldly strife - This was the man that we knew in his spring of life. The friendly warmth to beach a spirit sinking, lone, Turned suddenly once more to drifting thought, and blown Upon the yet unharpested minds of us began To grow again 4 . when we had later left this man. Remembering still the dedicated spirit, will We think on him as one with dreams - remembering still The man who'll leave a better world behind him when The winter of his life leaves him for spring again.

ft' 6 f... . 1K 1 -.4 in-I' DEDICATIGN A stick rattles in the light shade and swooshes lowly over our heads. A voice thunders through the corridors with a booming How DARE you! Ot course this is Mr. Goodwin. However, we shall remember you for more than your persuasive ranting, huffing, and putting, Mr. Goodwin. You have been our friend for five years. lt was your guidance that helped us to mature into young adults sharing the responsibilities of our class and our society. You have shown us o world his- toric and ever-changing. By your example of civic leadership you have made us aware that we must take our part in that world as proud citizens of our community and our nation. You have always called us your special class. More than that, you are our very special, very dedicated teacher. Words or gifts are not enough to express our gratitude, so we dedicate to you the labor and laughter ot our high school years which are embodied in this book, the product of our abilities. So brandish your pointer and bellow and laugh and help to mold the lives of those who will come after us. But pause before that tomorrow comes and accept our words of grati- tude. Thank you, Mr. Goodwin.

Class of 1965: Your accomplishments in the public schools of East Bridgewater are a source of pride for your community. Your successes are iust dividends paid to all the citizens for their investment, both economic and civic, in public educations. Be thankful for your blessings and be mindful of your continued responsibility to yourselves and to each other. Over the years your parents have counseled and worked with you and for you. Humble about their own con- tributions, they have been ever eager for oppor- tunities to commend your efforts. Our citizens have recognized their re- sponsibilities to youth and have worked to provide opportunities in depth and in value a little better than were ever given before. Their ardent hope is that you will reward their faith in you and in turn surpass their own accomplish- ments. To do so, Class of 'l965, each of you must devote constant attention to the obligations to yourself and others. There must be for you, and for all of us who say we love our community and nation, a never-failing attention to respect. Respect is wise discrimination in thoughts and actions, a measurement of our admiration for people and ideas, and a scale for self-examina- tion. To strongly condemn a man we say, He has no one's respect. For highest praise of a man we say, He has the respect of all. Each of us normally wants the respect of others, for in such esteem and love comes happiness. To merit this honor we must exercise extreme care and concern. To this duty to oneself, members of the Class of l965, may you ever be alert. Very sincerely yours, Stanley B. Goldman
