Ot course this is Mr. Goodwin. However, we shall remember you for more than your persuasive ranting, huffing, and putting, Mr. Goodwin. You have been our friend for five years. lt was your guidance that helped us to mature into young adults sharing the responsibilities of our class and our society. You have shown us o world his- toric and ever-changing. By your example of civic leadership you have made us aware that we must take our part in that world as proud citizens of our community and our nation. You have always called us your special class. More than that, you are our very special, very dedicated teacher. Words or gifts are not enough to express our gratitude, so we dedicate to you the labor and laughter ot our high school years which are embodied in this book, the product of our abilities. So brandish your pointer and bellow and laugh and help to mold the lives of those who will come after us. But pause before that tomorrow comes and accept our words of grati- tude. Thank you, Mr. Goodwin. SALUTATION The budding of a new idea - untried - untaughtg Opinion-born and bold sent on a whimsical thoughtg The eye that looked with pity on all worldly strife - This was the man that we knew in his spring of life. The friendly warmth to beach a spirit sinking, lone, Turned suddenly once more to drifting thought, and blown Upon the yet unharpested minds of us began To grow again 4 . when we had later left this man. Remembering still the dedicated spirit, will We think on him as one with dreams - remembering still The man who'll leave a better world behind him when The winter of his life leaves him for spring again. Class of 1965: Your accomplishments in the public schools of East Bridgewater are a source of pride for your community. Your successes are iust dividends paid to all the citizens for their investment, both economic and civic, in public educations. Be thankful for your blessings and be mindful of your continued responsibility to yourselves and to each other. Over the years your parents have counseled and worked with you and for you. Humble about their own con- tributions, they have been ever eager for oppor- tunities to commend your efforts. Our citizens have recognized their re- sponsibilities to youth and have worked to provide opportunities in depth and in value a little better than were ever given before. Their ardent hope is that you will reward their faith in you and in turn surpass their own accomplish- ments. To do so, Class of 'l965, each of you must devote constant attention to the obligations to yourself and others. There must be for you, and for all of us who say we love our community and nation, a never-failing attention to respect. Respect is wise discrimination in thoughts and actions, a measurement of our admiration for people and ideas, and a scale for self-examina- tion. To strongly condemn a man we say, He has no one's respect. For highest praise of a man we say, He has the respect of all. Each of us normally wants the respect of others, for in such esteem and love comes happiness. To merit this honor we must exercise extreme care and concern. To this duty to oneself, members of the Class of l965, may you ever be alert. Very sincerely yours, Stanley B. Goldman l i -:-:it 1, PRINCIPAUS MESSAGE purv- To the Class of 'l965: The day of graduation is about to dawn. My personal best wishes accompon ou as Y Y you assume the responsibilities of adulthood. It is basic that one of the first things we all learn is to face responsibility. A person is always responsible for himself and his actions, he s I' h ' ' ' oon rea izes e must make his own choices and cope with the results. The demands on our responsibility increase with our years. Maturing to adulthood your I aim is one of self-responsibility and happiness, your choices become completely your own. Eleanor Roosevelt wisely wrote, We are the sum total of all the choices we have made. Weigh your decisions carefully. Value your opportunities. Realize nothing is ever l h d accomp is e by the person who claims lt can't be done. Tackle each task as it comes your way. Most of all, find truth in the James M. Barrie philosophy, The secret of happiness is not in doing what you like but in liking what you have to do. , Very truly yours, Raymond Hamilton, Principal Mr. Joseph Morey Vice Principal ADMINISTRATIGN and MEDICAL Mrs. Phyllis Harfma Nurse Miss Mary Anderson Guidance Counselor ,ig rs, w 'QIIW' k ,f n, ,,.,,,r' Xxx X 'Yu-M, I X I' xxx awww.. The whole world's a stage. or, more accurately, the whole stage is your world when someone from the dark recesses of ropes, props, and curtains, calls, Lightsl Curtain! - You're on l Stunned and afraid and unable to run you recite your lines me- chanically until you actually become Emily Kimbrough, Cor- nelia Otis Skinner or any ot the characters ofthe play Our Hearts Were Young and Gay, in which two young girls, traveling to Paris on an ocean liner, encounter the zaniest of experiences. At last you proudly take your bows at the curtain call. The senior class play was a hilarious success. Thank you actors, actresses and especially Mrs. Eileen Malloy, our director, and Dottie Sprague, our student director. I ,K midi' Amidst the swishing of taffeta, beneath crepe paper streamers in a transformed gym- nasium, we dance away three short hours. lt went so quickly, and yet we remember the months of preparation. We remember a quick sandwich and coke at ten o'clock the night before, we remember the bare feet and painted blue ieans, we remember how everyone contributed so willingly tothe streamer fund. This was the joy of our junior prom - the fun of working to- gether to create an underwater ballroom out of an airy, dusty ball-room. ,g' jgnuvimuadr Ohnli4N1lGlV u.n.,,B,waw..,.a-sent uw-vmouufhl' +441-.ul Us luwv 14804 RX. kg S, ,', ,. ,. -r--. Like the flightly muses they screech commands and warnings to the Easties' warriors. Ut is unfortunate they do not have the influence of the muses over their losing teams.l Fight score win! The ieering crowds of the opponentg the lack of E.B. supportg the losses. The Greek muses never performed a more difficult task with as much grace and vigor. Q 1' 1 'lf lb ckoss cou TRY Anxiously crouched at the starting line wait the teams. Tense muscles are ready to spring forward at the gun and they are running! Two to three miles over pavement and woodland paths, scattered with leaves that crunch under their teet, is the course of the cross country runner. Dogs occasionally nipping at their heels and the cool autumn breezes are their only companions. The individual runs alone. With the finish line in view their mouths drop open, gasping tor air, their legs are weights, their motions mechanical. Victory is than rant,-.J 2' QT! Trying to alleviate misunderstandings and to stimulate unity through service, the Student Council has received praise as well as criticism from the student body. Its name is suggestive of its function. Consisting of representatives from each class, serving as consultants, this influential organization seeks individual and collective betterment of all students. The Student Council aims to comply with sound and constructive criti- cism, but advocates proper procedure in attempting to institute change. Participation encouraged leadership expected success, failure, cooperation, discord, but always the attempt.
