We Dedicate Gur Yearbook to Mr. Albert Kiellerstedt Hmm, what shall we do today? I think we'll read. 'x .. 'M yi 'LQ--9, M' If I were sitting here and the whole outside world were indifferent to what I was do- ing, I would still want to be doing iust what I am. Mr. Kiellersteclt, you have been a true friend to us. But more than a friend, you have helped us in partic- ular, on the yearbook and many others through the Argus, freshman basketball, and your classes. You have overlooked our forgetfulness, our carelessness, and our incon- sideration. You have made us look within ourselves and laugh, you have pushed us farther along the road to maturity. Your calm resolu- tion and your perspective of life have taken away our anger and substituted understanding. How can we say thank you to a man who has done all this? We could have offered you a gift, presented you with money, but that is too meaning- less for you. Instead, we chose to work many long hours to produce this yearbook for you. The 7964 Torch is only the tangible embody- ing the intangible-our admiration. Therefore, we dedicate our year- book, which is so all-important in our Senior year, to you, our Mr. K. I like to read. if

Prin ipal' Message And This our life exempt from public haunt finds Tongues in tree, books in the running brook Sermons in stones and good in everything. William Shakespeare, As You Like It The enioyment of reading, the identification with the printed page emotionally as well as intellectually which characterizes the effective read- er, is an important characteristic of the educated adult. To those who have learned the secret which transforms the printed page from abstract symbols into meanings which carry personal sig- nificance, reading of books becomes and remains a source of personal sat- isfaction for which there is no sub- stitute. With the library a vital part of your life and the librarian as your companion, books become your magic carpet. Reading then, becomes your passport into other countries. You meet other people, visit in their homes, travel their roads, share their experiences, and your ideas are stim- ulated. What fun, what a deeply satisfying experience. Sincerely, Raymond Hamilton Principal
