We remember it as if it were yesterday. That day in September 1957, when we, the class of 1961, entered the doors of East Bridge- water High School and thus began four years of high school and a lifetime of priceless memories. As the freshman year opened, class officers were elected, a con- stitution was set up, the class motto was written, and the class colors were chosen by various committees in the class. To the rest of the school, these events were of little importance but this was our first taste of high school life. The class pin, a blue and White octagon With the East Bridgewater High School 1 emblem and the year '61 engraved on the face of the pin, was purchased by many of the members of our class. In the spring of ,59, we spent a most memorable day visiting historic Boston. It Was the first time that the class had done any- thing together, and it was a day we will never forget I- Will we? The sophomore year was highlighted with the Sophomore Hop. The autumnal atmosphere and decorations encouraged the theme of NTWilight Time. The Junior year was a happy and memorable one for all. Mr. ,loseph Morey, our class advisor, helped us through many situations, most of which were concerned with the planning of our junior prom. On the evening of April 29, 1960, the class of ,61 sponsored its first formal, '4Castle in the Clouds. The scene was set in an atmosphere of royalty, accentuated by a lovely background of roses, moonlight, and soft music. After the Grand March, led by the class officers, the royal atmosphere became authentic when Miss Doris Barnard. a member of the class of '61, was selected queen of our prom As ueen Dorls accepted the honor by talun her place on the royal throne she urs presented a bouquet of roses by the presldent of ou1 class The fmal and most lmportant year ln our h1 h school llves flnally arrlved As semors we lmmedlately started Work on the second ed1t1on of the yearbook co edlted by James Hornstra and Mary Anderson December 9 1960 was the debut for partlclpated 1n the class play Arsemc and Old Lace As the months Uradually became weeks and the weeks eventually de creased We found that It was June 14th braduatlon day for the class of 1961 Tears were shed by many Slglllfylflg that sadness erlsted ln the hearts of those who d1sl1ke leavlng frrends and good tlmes behmd Happmess however was shown by some people who reallzed that the flrst lmportant budge 1n thelr 1116 had been crossed and that the future held fr1ends and good tlmes too W,.m.1a,Jj,aW .1 I F. if H v Vi- ' .. .U . . . b . 9 - 7 7 the talented members of the class who . . . Our team came through in fine style this year in what was supposed to be a rebuilding season for East Bridgewater High basketball. fThe season was filled with many exciting games including our home and away series with Marshfield when we lost the first game 61-60 but beat them on our home floor 6-1--62.l The team advanced to the quarterfinal round of the South Shore Tournament before we were eliminated by Bridge- water High, 60-50. in an exciting contest played at Oliver Ames High School Gymnasium. With a fine nucleus of underclassmen returning, we are predicting great seasons for Coach Morey and his Easties. 74151-Q-if COACH JOSEPH F.
