Goacfz Tay Qglffiams Sfar Jerry Qyesf Captain jerry West is the most outstanding high school player in the state of West Virginia. He led his team through amost successful season and established all-time new Kanawha Valley Conference and state high school records. He set anew Kanawha Valley Conference record with a total of 559 pointsg set a new record of average points per game at 34. 95 set a new record in the state tournament play by pulling down 54 rebounds in three games and set a new state scoring record of 926 points in 27 games. jerry was selected Captain of the All Kanawha Valley Conference Te am in both his junior and senior years. In his senior year, he was appointed Captain to All-State Class A Teamg was selected Captain of the All-Tournament Team in the sectional, regional, and state Tournaments. East Bank Pioneers won the state championship baseball contest in 1952. 1955 ioneer aseoaff Season 'SQ 34,Qxfj 2 East Bank Pioneers ended their 1955 regular season with an excellent re- cord of 11 wins, 6 losses and 1 tie, and, after the various tournaments in which they participated were completed, they had a record of 16-7-1. They were runner-up in the state tournament. In the first game of the sectional tournament, they defeated Clay 9-4. They then victimized South Charleston with a decisive score of 5-4. Next they met Seth and won by a narrow 5-3. In margin to win the regional championship. The score of that game was the state tournament the Pioneers won their first two games. East Bank beat Matewan by a score of 1-O and St. Marys by a 11-3 score. In the initial a score game of the state tournament East Bank was defeated by Monongah by of 5-1. David Adkins, Hugh Reynolds, Larry Short, and Tommy Goins were members of the all-tournament team. Tommy Goins was named to the first all state team and David Adkins was named to the third all state team.
