Today there are fifty classes with an enrollment of thirty-five or more students. Student Gonqress The student co-government association was established in the spring of 1938 by the following members of one ofthe senior social studies classes: William Pryor, Nancy Williams and Fred Wise. The first student coun- cil, composed of class officers of the sophomore, junior and senior classes, elected William Pryor as President, Fred Wise as Vice-President and Nancy Williams as Secretary-Treasurer. The first project was to acquaint the incoming sophomores with the course of study and activities of the senior high school. Aletter was sent by the student council to the ninth grade class in each junior high school in the area. From this small beginning developed the annual junior High Day when the members of the ninth grade classes are transported to the senior high school for a day of orientation. The present student co-government association organization, with its student congress, class states and home room counties, an outgrowth of the American Legion Boys' and Girls' States, was probably the first one in the United States to be based on national, state and county government. fhC6I'5 Row 1 Qleft to rightj: Vice -President, Ann Gay, President, janice Mont- gomery, Treasurer, Juanita Wilson.
