Cllr HE FOOTBALL SEASON of 1949 was a disappointment to many. The team had a record of three wins, five losses, and one tie. The losses were to outstanding teams-Oak Hill, Charleston, Stonewall jackson, Huntington East and St. Albans. All rated in the first ten teams in the state. The loss of such boys as Dolan, Swartz, Tincher, Hall, Raines, Shdeed, Loveday, Kearns, Smith and Yoakum will be felt, but returning juniors and sophomores should bolster the prospeets for 1950. David Loveday and Kenneth Dolan were appointed co-captains. The records of-.these boys, along with those of the other seniors, should be an inspiration to returning p 's. The Bn team had a much better record, winning three games, tying one and Bing one. They defeated Charleston twice, Cauley Bridge once, tied and lost one each to Stone- wall jackson. The work of Beaver, Burroughs, Pettry and Berry was outstanding. Much will be expected from the Bn team next year. Page Sixty-four
