Student Congress Page F ifty-six The purpose of the Student Congress is to promote better citizenship, better school spirit, high scholarship, more unity and cooperation among the students, and to develop in students an appreciation of the democratic form of government. The Student Congress was organized in 1938 and is affiliated with the county, state and national associations of Student Congress. The two outstanding activities of the Student Congress each year are the election of Miss Pioneer and the good citizenship program in the spring.

School Health Service Mrs. Veda B. Reddy, R.N., represents Kanawha County School Health Service in our school. Mrs. Reddy's objective of this program is a higher physical level for all students. She spends one full day each week conducting routine health inspection and assisting students to solve their own personal problems. Student on ress ilffieers Thomas Hodge, presidentg Carolyn Bobersky, secretaryg Bob Yoeum, vice prcsidentg Georgie Ann Smith, assistant secretaryg joe Mancari, treasurer. Duties of the officers of the Student Congress are as follows: The president presides over all meetings of the Congress and acts as chief executive in all matters pertaining to the Congress. The vice-president assists the sophomore class in drawing up its constitution and takes over the duties of the president in ease of his absence. The treasurer, secretary, and assistant secre- tary perform the usual duties of their office. ' . Page F iffy-five
