Heim. fe: ge fi. music for all occasions Beginning in 1919 with only 15 members, East lligh's hand has grown tremendously in the past All years. Today the A hand, directed hy Mr. Court. has 63 members. Thirty-eight students. under the direction ot' Mr. Forte, comprise the H band. The hand provided music for pep assem- blies. halt'-time entertainment at football games, and at the Fommencement exer- cises. Formal concerts, state solo and en- semhle contests, Fox Valley Music Festival, and coasponsorship ofthe Minstrel rounded out a busy schedule. Some members of the hand also played in a dance hand at fifth quarter dances. The primary jobs of the H hand, composed mainly of freshmen, were the practice reading of new material and comprising part ofthe marching hand. Quill ancl Scroll awards were macle to eclitors anal reporters who achieved a minimum ot' 100 column inches in print and had a sample ol' their writing approved hy Quill and Scroll National Honorary Journalistic Society. There were seventeen issues of the news- paper this yearg the regular staff issued fifteen and the classes taking journalism put out the last two as practice toward working on next year's staff.
