Typing, bookkeeping, sales, and general business are offered as beginning courses. The business department makes use of such equipment as dictaphones, llJ2 manual and I6 electric typewriters, mimeographs, dittograph, adding ma- chines, a comptometer, and calculators. The advanced courses offered are ofhce practice, advanced stenography, tran- scription, banking and machine book- keeping. ln these courses students learn the fundamentals of the variozis subjects. A fitting roam with a threcf way mirror and grooming area, and ffl electric sewing machines built into the tables are just a few of the new features of the clothing room. liight separate cooking units of various colors, built in lazy Susansf' mixmasters which folll into cabinets, and garbage disposals arc some of the modern conveniences of the cooking room. This new location was a boon to liast's marching band because of easy access to the practice field. The area in which the band meets is tiered in four levels for full rehearsals and is sur- rounded by ll practice rooms, all equip- ped with pianos, and two ensemble rooms. The use of these separate practice rooms paid off as liast Highs musicians won six first place awards, three thirds, and one fourth at the district contest held at Sandwich.
