72a ' Fresh Fields THE SEN IORS' STORY Step, slide, step, slide! Oops! Missed again! No, we can't remember those last minute instruc- tions. We keep glancing nervously at those many rows of faces to see if the family is here. Even the memories of our four long years at East High are dim in our minds. Oh, yes, we suffered the usual fate of the green freshmen. Gone, but not forgotten are those panicky moments of horrible oral themes and algebra story problems. Mighty proud were we that freshman year, for our basketball team was the regional champ and our football team won the annual Thanksgiving Day game. Out of the realms of the underclassmen! We managed to sneak into 107, but found it not the wonderful place we had dreamed about. Our courage strengthened, and we joined drama and the choir. Geometry proved hectic, but we liked world history when we learned the lighter side of World War I. Our football team hit the jack- pot!-With the winning of the Thanksgiving game, we became Big Eight Champs! Ahh! We really were somebody now! As jaunty juniors we found our names appearing occasion- ally in the Auroran. We had fun clowning at the junior Carnival, and we showed the Barrymore in us when we emoted in our class play, Stage Door . Another Turkey Day game was a suc- cess, and we pointed with pride to the Exchange Club trophy. The elite of the school, at last!-We wore out our shoe soles patronizing for the Spec , and we laughed at the funny comedy of our class play, Fresh Fields and again at the humorous antics of the Minstrel . Then we began planning for the day of days. We passed our cards like professionals, and when Class Day arrived, our names appeared in our last will and testament. Prom and Banquet passed, and now we are taking part in the biggest pro- duction of all-GRADUATION. There's a catch in our throats as our diploma is handed us, for now nothing is left to us but the future-a future which we hope to make as successful and won- derful as our days at EAST HIGH. -25-s
