MUSIC and ARTS Did you know East High was simply overflowing with talent? There are enough amateur Rem- brandts and Mozarts around here to fill a miniature Greenwich Vil- lage. And they're all good too, though we never quite realize it until the art exhibit or music con- cert. Among the front row of unsung heroes, these two groups go quietly about their work performing a real service to the school. The art de- partment is responsible for the rna- jority of posters seen about East, plus stage scenery, and Red Cross work. Among the music depart- ment's many jobs is making melody for school convocations, produc- tions, and for the Cantata.

No matter what the future holds for the high school student, English will play an im- portant part in his life. And what is English without oral themes! Who does not remember the times we gave the title and forgot the rest or, while nervously leafing through our notes, dropped a few? Along with oral themes come participial phrases, Ivanhoe , and Tennyson. Whether it's speech, journalism, rhetoric, or business English, it's all under the supervision of the English de- partment.
