And with the passing of time, things surely have changed. Take, for ex- ample, what was called 'rithmetic in the days of the little red school house. Now called mathe- matics, it has grown from 2 + 2 I 4 to the com- plicated process of the slide rule. And what an instrument' that slide rule is! fCal1ed by some, an instrument of torture! J There are a few trig students who question whether or not it is really easier to use the rule. just remember, math students, be patient and tolerant. After all, you can't blame poor Greece for claiming such brains as Archimedes and Pythagoras. Circles, angles, theorems are all part of the geom- etry assignment for F. Schomer, J. Cosgrove, 1. 'W 5 like Mm? COMMERCIAL FF-TF-FTF. Hmmmm! This isn't so bad after all . . . going faster already . . . it's a snap!! Oops! wrong key . . . oh, well, what's another mistake more or less . . . mostly more. ' All this train of thought shows how worn the nerves of the beginning typist can be. Even the calm and hopeful secretary of the future hnds shorthand a little trying at times when all the curlyques don't fit in their right places. Bookkeeping always proves interesting, yet hec- tic, when the debits get mixed with the credits and vice-versa. Distributive Education rounds out the curricu- lum of the Commercial department, which pre- pares the student for whatever problems he may meet in the business world. ,in-.sans ..16..
