Hearing this, some might return with, Thank you, -but not an East High Spanish student. He knows that he had better be quiet as he has been told. However, carrying on conversation in other tongues is not all our language students learn. Complicated declensions and conjugations, plus a giant-sized vocabulary, are all in a day's work to him. In the smaller world of tomorrow, our linguists will never be at a loss for words. No matter where his atom plane may take him, he'll be able to speak the language of the country wherein he lands. ff ac I 5, mmf I 3, Wkczil like ,dgzfzme mai of 1456 .7 NY? Marie L. Bauer Don L. Calame John W. Mouw C. J. Robert G. M. Runninger MATHEMATICS Time marches on! And with the passing of time, things surely have changed. Take, for ex- ample, what was called 'rithmetic in the days of the little red school house. Now called mathe- matics, it has grown from 2 + 2 I 4 to the com- plicated process of the slide rule. And what an instrument' that slide rule is! fCal1ed by some, an instrument of torture! J There are a few trig students who question whether or not it is really easier to use the rule. just remember, math students, be patient and tolerant. After all, you can't blame poor Greece for claiming such brains as Archimedes and Pythagoras. Circles, angles, theorems are all part of the geom- etry assignment for F. Schomer, J. Cosgrove, 1. Thomsen, A. Clemmons, E. Hoyt.
