Miss Morrison tried her best to clear that haze of spheres, hexagons, and triangles--mysteries that only geometry can bring. Little did we realize that when we took World History from Mr. Day Qknown to us as Rosie',j we would be learning how he won World War I, single handed. NW e sat at typewriters, trying hard to learn, faithfuly typ- ing and retyping frf fff ftf so that we might have 100 budgets. Who would have thought it? There were singers, musicians, artists, writers and even debators in our midst. We joined Drama to learn how to walk with books on our heads. Then without the books, we marched down the athletic field, in South Amer- ican garb, carrying flags of Brazil, Peru, or Vene- zuela for the Pan-American ceremonies. We decked the halls with boughs of hollyn for the Christmas Pageant. We gingerly dipped our fingers in black- face to make up the end-men for the minstrel. We started something new in Girl Reserves. We formed the Freshman-Sophomore club, and appro- priately named it the Beta Chapter. With Maryon Keeley as our first president, we proved that we could have better programs than did the Alpha Chapter. Then, before we knew it, june arrived. One-half of high school was over. The vine was halfway up the ladder. It had sprouted leaves. Its roots were firmly anchored. In September we returned to school as dignified juniors. The Juniors of East High, capable of shouldering responsibility. We no longer read the Bowl first when the Amfowms came out. We were juniors. We glanced at the first page, and then read the Bowl. Some of us even ventured a con- tribution now and then as cub reporters. We voted for class rings and waited, and waited, until that glorious day in May when they at last arrived.
