fa. LYDIA ALBERT BETTY JEAN PATRICIA CHRISTOPHER ABEL ADAMS ALEXANDER ANNING ATKINSON ROBERT LOUISE ELLEN MAE FLORENCE AGNES BAB COCK BACH BANKS BANKS BARTHOLOMEW fbaqanfmw Remember that day in September, four years ago when we first came to East High as freshmen? That Age of Freshmen when we had no individu- ality, but each of us was just another person that filled up the halls. Weren't we mousy-looking creatures then? No girl dared wear lipstick, and all of usgthought a pancake was something to eat with maple syrup, not something to smear on our faces. That was the time when the boys wore more than one inch of hair-no synthetic blonds or redheads then. That was the time when shirt tails were worn inside, loafers were lazy people, not comfortable shoes, and anybody could buy a pair of saddle shoes with real red rubber soles. No one ever thought of going down town after school then. We led such narrow lives. We walked home--studied, ate-studied again, and went to bed by nine-thirty. But we learned! Mr. Cravens taught us how to find the unknown We sur- vived that awful Friday morning when we gave our first oral theme. We read about Sir Lancelot and Guinevere in Idylls of the King. We tried to look intelligent when Mr. McAfoos told us about electricity and carburators. We struggled through those first few months of Latin and French so that we might be cultured Dutifully we attended manners classes, secretly wondering if those self- assured seniors really practiced what they preached when they smiling told us to always dance six inches apart. Then it was june. Those green vines had started growing-straight and strong-up the ladder of success! Then came the dawn! As sophomores of East High, we began showing signs of having some kind of personality-some originality-we were indi- viduals! Now we stopped to get an ice cream cone before we went home to do our schoolwork. And we stayed up until ten o'clock. We studied cross sections of earthworms and the circulatory system I TWENTY-FIVE J
