Honor Society The Malespina Chapter of the National Honor Society under the leadership of Mark Bledsoe, president, engaged in an active year long effort to raise money for scholarships. Honor Society members washed cars and worked in concessions to earn money for their cause. Other activities of the Honor Society included a simulated Dating Game for the Thunderbird Dinner. In the spring new initiates were accepted on the basis of scholarship, leadership, citizenship, character, and service. Mark Bledsoe, president, Cathy Wellman, vice-president' Jean Woodring, secretary, Leslie McClintic, treasurer, and Miss Margo Cook, sponsor, look over NHS scholarships. Medical Club Community service, in the form of aid to the sick and the aged, was the main function of East High's Medical Club. Volunteer work at Ridgeview Manor and Woodhaven Rest Home afforded sophomores the opportunity to help care for senior citizens, while juniors and seniors fe' M M:-we Nm .1 US QP! aided nurses in looking after patients in both Provi- dence and Anchorage Community Hospitals. Experi- enced members of the club had the opportunity to work at Alaska Psychiatric Institute and Alaska Native Service Hospital. Medical Club officers for 1968-69 were Linda Harper, president: Debbie Moore, secretary: Sharon Witt, treasurer, and Gail Schmidt, student council represen- tative. Mrs. Louise Peck sponsored the group. Mrs. Peck gives directions as well as lending her own hands in getting the Rusty Syringe Saloon ready for the Thunderbird Dinner.
