Craig Cusack, Ray Jeffers, Bob Bell, Herman Jones, Kent Hartberg, Mark Weaver, and Tom Elliot, and BACK ROW: Marc Banks, Doug Wooster, Bob Jones, Dan Walker, Joe Childers, Bob Lawson, Jim McNab, Buddy Paris, Coach Del Lowery, and Coach Howard Hoskens. JV Football The East High junior varsity football team was unsur- passed by all their Challengers. Under the combined talents of Coaches Del Lowery and Howard Hoskens, the JV's chalked up a perfect score of four straight wins. Head Coach Lowery, who gave the boys the incentive for a successful season, had high praise for his team. The 1968 junior varsity gridders established a record of hard work unprecedented before by any East JV football squad. Their efforts throughout the season improved their skills as football players for the coming year. Larry Allen l24l runs around the end while being pursued by two Fort Rich players. Bob Hafner l51l shouts encouragement to his teammates as the spectators watch the action on the field.

Huskie Footboll The Fort Rich Huskie football team was considered one of the most improved ball clubs of the 1968 football season. Although they faced a grueling season, they scored against many of the powerhouses in the league. Head Coach Bill Davis and his assistants worked through the season with the team trying for the winning combination of a good running back field and a strong front line. Their efforts were rewarded by the naming of Willy Robinson to the All- Conference team as an offensive back. Art Newell l83l and Arthur Chambers l85l demonstrate good tackling techniques by bringing down an Elmendorf Cougar. Eugene Golden l10l watches his pass hurdle through the air to its mark Students from East High on the Fort Rich football team are FRONT ROW: Marvin Nielson, Larry Sharrah, Tom Jones, Eugene Golden, Chris Bradshaw, and Dave Rael, and BACK ROW: Art Newell, Shindo-Han Allen, Manfred COIISY, Gary Currie, Edward Martin, and Mike Austin.

4, Doug Parker and George Church drive hard to come out ahead , in a meet against the Dimond Lynx. Cross Country The T-Birds ranked third in a series of meets among the four cross country track teams in the state. To improve the team, Coach Ronald LaValley helped each member individually. T-Bird practice sessions, which began early in the school year, included an average of five to six miles of running per night. Time trials were held before each meet to determine the best runners for each competition. The season was climaxed at the state meet at AlVlU in which over 100 runners from eight teams participated. Bela Bodnar, East's top runner, placed third in the AIVIU contest and was later named lVlost Outstanding Team lVlember. Senior David Root was cited as the lVlost Improved Runner for East.
