KEAR KEAR, East Anchorage Radio, is in its third year of operation. Starting as an idea in the 1966-67 school year, KEAR has grown to a small scale radio station. The station broadcasts before school, during both lunches, and after school from the projection room above the auditorium. Sponsored by lVlr. James Hamilton and run completely with the efforts and free time of four students, KEAR is the only inter-school radio station in the state. The students instrumental in the operation of KEAR are lVlarvin Godwin, Frank Tonnema, Jerry Balthazore, and Darryl Berkley. Frank Tonnema waits to take over as Jerry Balthazore finishes his show. KEAR disc jockey Jerry Balthazore cues a record after school. Anthony Anderson assists the regular workers in the station by checking the equipment. '

East's drum major, Roger McClure leads the band through the crowd-lined streets during the Fur Rendezvous parade. Royalty chosen during the week of Fur Rendezvous activities are Mr. Fuzz Face, Mike Cornell, Mr. Leastest, Don Liston, and Miss Gay Nineties, Linda Biederman. Fur Rendezous With the Mr. Fuzz Face and the Miss Gay Nineties contests kicking off the FurWRendezvous, East entered the spirit of the holiday. Mike Cornell was chosen Mr. Fuzz Face, while the Miss Gay Nineties costume winner was Linda Biederman. The annual parade began Saturday's Rendezvous activities with participants from the East Band, led by Roger McClure, the cheerleaders, led by Connie Leaskg the Flag Corp, led by Vicki Phillips, the Baton Corps, led by Vicki Bingamang the Thunderbird Mascot, represented by Kathy Otcheckg and the ROTC Unit, led by Colonel Miller. ln December, Eastsider Gwen Gregg won the Miss Elmendorf contest. She claimed the coveted title and crown of Miss Alaska on February 21. Mush, demands student musher Debbie Brockway as she prepares her dogs for the Fur Rendezvous.
