Polmer Troin Trip Despite the cold temperatures of 15 degrees below zero, a large turnout of East students participated in the Palmer Train Trip on January 17. The Pep Club sponsored the refreshment stand for the benefit of the students and the faculty chaperones. After jumping off the train and going in the wrong direction, East students made a grand entrance into the Palmer school. Pep Club, with their matching sweaters and pompons, created a special effect from a distance. The East High JV basketball team showed excellent tactics as they outscored the Moose by a score of 82-45. Although the students cheered heartily the East varsity was defeated by a score of 66-63. After the close game, East High Thunderbirds, not losing their spirit, tracked back to the train for the return trip to Anchorage. 1'- t ,tgr ,,l Connie Leask, Gloria Buenafe, and Cheryl Iverson enthusiastically lead cheers as the train chug-a-lugs along. ,Na In nippy weather East High students Dan Walker, Bob Smith, Tina Truet, and Mary Vokacek wait in line to board the train to Palmer.

Basketball found its way into the Christmas holidays in the form of the annual Christmas tournament. Curt Brandon C133 lays up the ball for two points. I ftggng Senior Rhonda Aubrey puts the finishing touches on the door which she created for Mrs. Renner's homeroom.
