East High Students demonstrate that the beat really does go on at one of the many basketball dances held in the cafeteria. Sports Donces Building spirit and adding color to the social life of its students are the intent of the East High sports dances. Dances, held traditionally after football and basketball games, have long been an important facet in the extracurricular activities of high school pupils. All sports dances were held in the cafeteria at East and were sponsored by the student council. Decorations were supplied by the dance committee whose chairman was Patty Iverson. Included in the committee were Vicki Catching, in charge of decorations, and Margo Bell, in charge of entertainment. All dances were cleared through lVlr. Bernie Warren, assistant principal in charge of activities. Mr. Frick and lVlr. Levis were on hand to collect tickets. Furnishing the refreshments were clubs assigned to the games. First this year was the Homecoming Dance at which Queen Debbie Craig and her court were honored. Following the Homecoming Dance were the Christmas Dance and several basketball dances. l PWM Caught in a moment of reverie, Cheryl Jefferson may be remembering past dances and many good times she has had at East.
