Each separate part of the Homecoming float is painstakingly done here by Kathy Money and Delia Otter in order to make it perfect. Homecoming '68 Preparations for the 1968 Homecoming began with nightly work parties for the decorating of the float. Sporting a huge football and the East Thunderbird on a white and red backdrop, the float was used to carry the princesses to and from the game. While this project was sponsored by the Senior Class, organization for the traditional bonfire was delegated to the juniors. The bonfire had a good turnout. It featured a Dimond effigy which was poised at the height of the flames. Led by the cheerleaders, the Eastsiders concluded the event by snakedancing around the fire. Other activities designed to increase Homecoming spirit included a Car Decorating Contest and a Pep Assembly. Automobiles adorned with crepe paper streamers, colorful signs, and paper mache objects were judged for originality and best expression of Homecoming spirit. Winners were included in the bus caravan on game night. In the Pep Assembly, the cheerleaders and band combined to raise Eastside spirit. Band members at the pep assembly heighten loyalty and enthusiasm in their spirited rendition of Rock Around the Clock. Barbie Underwood, .laymi Chron, Jill Chron, Mary Stephens, and Sandy Simon proudly exhibit their winning entry in the car decorating contest. , ea, is
