1 Soph. Government The Senior Class of '71 began by sponsoring a Homecoming spirit campaign which included pep banners, buttons, and student lounge decorations. Action continued as sophomores operated the fortune telling booth and acted as student waiters at the Thunderbird Dinner. ln November faculty sponsors lVlrs. Laurel Johnson, lVlrs. Linda Van Tassel, and Mrs. Helen Ellis aided the officers in the selection of six advisory board members. Board members proved to be key organizers for Christmas and miscellaneous projects. By a class vote burgundy and silver were chosen to be the class colors and the white rose, class flower. Slogans were suggested for a class yell and by a final vote the sophomores chose Future America we will run, Senior Class of '71! Discussing upcoming activities in the student lounge are Sophomore Class officers Jay Thomas, president, Barb Stepp, treasurer, Pam Jester, vice-president, and Cheryl Gorsline, secretary. Working together in drafting their class constitution are sophomore officers and advisory board members Jay Thomas, Kris Karstetter, Brenda Ramert, Pam Jester, Pam Catching, Cheryl Gorsline, Pattie Setter, and Richard Willing. Pam Jester, Kris Karstetter, Pris Ladd, and Jay Thomas go over details before a sophomore class meeting.

Junior class sponsors and advisory board include Nlr. Chuck White, Rhonda Gardner, Nlr. Arthur Arians, Holly Watkins, lVlr. Herbert Niemoth, Margo Bell, Bob Fisher, and Linda Willings. Junior Government Spirit reigned in the juniors as they claimed the Spirit Jug at the first pep assembly of the year. It was this unity and enthusiasm which carried the Class of '70 through their junior year. Various projects the class sponsored were the Homecoming bonfireg the Junior Prom, the court decorations at Christmas and during the Fur Rendezvous, and the Junior Class play, which was in April, Placing the letters East Anchorage High School on the west wall of the building near the main parking lot was chosen as their senior project. The juniors voted their class motto to be, Knowledge comes but wisdom lingers. Class colors selected were white and sapphire blue. Taking a break from their work, Junior Class officers are Stacy Taniguchi, vice-president, Tom Wellman, president, Cheryl Chesnut, treasurerg and lVlary Stephens, secretary. ff X As a good example of leadership, Tom Wellman listens intently to the new ideas of others.
