Bond Victors, the school song, could be heard echoing through the halls as the East High Band welcomed the 1968-69 student body to a year of study and extracurricular events. Under the direction of Mrs. Kathleen Jones and Mark Bledsoe, student conductor, the band attracted large audiences for concerts in the fall and before Christmas. The annual spring production of Bandtasia highlighted their performances. Other positions held by band members included All-State Honor Band and the Anchorage Youth Symphony. Seventeen musicians from East were selected from tape recordings to play in the All-State Honor Band with five of them chosen for first chair responsibilities. The selling of candy paid for a trip to another city where the band held a concert for the residents. Other band activities included band members demonstrating their instruments to elementary school children- and making a record of their favorite numbers. The band finishes a successful pep assembly with their own special version of Downtown
