DR JOH PHILLIP SUPERI TE DE T In October of I98O, Dr. John Phil- lips assumed the responsibilites of Superintendent of Schools, East Alle- gheny School District. The son of Henry and Erma Phillips of North Versailles, Pa., Dr. Phillips was edu- cated within our school system. Af- ter graduating from Westinghouse Memorial High School, he attended California State College, Duquense University, Indiana University, and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Phillips holds certification as an ele- mentary teacher, guidance counsel- or, principal, Elementary Education Supervisor, Supervisor of Curricu- lum, and Superintendent. Dr. Phillips began his career in education as an elementary school teacher in the Churchill Area School District. He was a a college instruc- tor at Penn State University and Indi- ana University. He has served as an Education Consultant to the Pennsyl- vania Department of Education, Mt. Lebanon School District, McKeesport Area School District. Wilkinsburg School District, and Westmoreland Intermediate Unit. Within the East Allegheny School District, he has been Director of E.S.E.A. Title I, Fed- eral Coordinator, Assistant Superin- tendent, and Superintendent. Dr. Phillips chose to end his career at East Allegheny during the i985-86 school year. He accepted a job at Connellsville Area Schools as Super- intendent. Although he will be great- ly missed by everyone at E.A., the Pawprint staff wishes him the best in his new position. k 1

HIGH SCHGOL ADMI ISTRATORS Dr. Pat Serrapere Dr. Serrapere began a new phase of his career at East Allegheny when he accepted the position of head principal at the high school. Previously, he was responsible for running Green Valley Primary School whre he was first intro- duced to many of the students who attended the high school this year. He seems to have adjusted well to the routine of East Allegheny. Although there was a big difference in running a primary school and high school, Dr. Serra- pere has handled it quite nicely. Mr. .lohn Liptak Mr. John Liptak has been our assistant principal here at East Allegheny for I5 years. Many of the problems and challenges students face daily are taken care of under his supervision. Throughout the years he has gained the respect of the students because of his concern and fair treatment toward them. He is by far, one of the most respected advisors at East Allegheny.
